Community Development

Gary Malkowski has a long and proven track record in Community Development. It started during his college years when he was Director of Athletic Affairs for the Student Body Government and President of the Gallaudet University Canadian Club. Since his return home to Canada, Gary has devoted his entire career to betterment of Deaf people, advancing agenda, building consensus and working with groups. Gary can create or support community development strategies that engage citizens to realize bold visions for the future. Put his extensive network to use in promoting your initiative, obtain inputs, and collaborate to tackle community issues. Participation increases community cohesion and allows the community to have ownership over the outcomes that will ultimately impact them.

Civic & Public Affairs

Gary Malkowski is the World’s First Deaf Parliamentarian using sign language in the legislature. In 1990, he was elected to serve a five-year term as Ontario Member of Provincial Parliament for the riding (District) of York East. He also served as Parliamentary Assistant(s) to several Ministers and served on numerous standing committees. Engage Gary to consult and identify approaches to gain influences i.e. human rights, legal, ombudsman, political, media or building coalition. Increase awareness and understanding on the use of different tools in engaging activities to ensure that your organization is engaged in effective individual and systematic advocacy strategy, use tools and access to resources.
